Girls camp 2011

Girls camp was fun, it was held at The Flying Ranch. So for me, it was vacation at work, (I worked there for the summer). My sister had a holy ghost experience while in her tent, settling down for bed. ( At girls camp settling down in your tent means: having a pillow fight, getting hyper from all the sugar you eat, and then telling stories at night, usually scary stories with beehives, and talking till 3:00 in the morning).
So my sister was doing just that, when the Holy Ghost said, "Move."
Why? she asked in her head, and continued the scary story she was telling her friend,
(Who was tenting with her).
Again, "Move."
Where? what for? My sister paused, and then, "MOVE."
She was lucky then to have listened. She threw herself on her friend, and there was a crack, and a branch that had been above her tent fell on it, smashing down on where her head had been a second ago.
I would not have been so quick. I have to practice very hard on listening to the Holy Ghost, and more so do what he says with out question. But every time anyone does, they are blessed. It is always for a good reason.

Apart from that, she had fun. Camp went on as normal.
All of the girls, as far as I know, went on a hike that ended up at a cave. A very muddy, cold, but cool cave. It was better then last year's dead cow. That year there was a rotting cow at the end of our hike. Phew.

Camping at Rocky Top

We went for a mini vacation to A nearby lake.
And I found the best fishing spot. This top and left is a bridge that was busted by flood water. On the left, you can see a tree that fell in to. It lies right across, and near it's roots and underneath it was a nice fish nest. It was at least until my siblings came to marvel over it.
"WOW!"
"Look at those fish Tali!"
"Yes, I see, I was here first, I know," I say, just a little irritated.
"There's a big one,"
"I'm gonna scoot down and take a closer look."
"No, please don't, your way too close,"  Too late,                                                                                                      they all swim away.

But I owe thanks for all my hooks they have saved from snags.
On the left I am taking a mental picture of it with dad, from my point of veiw, There is a scene that I think would make a nice scenery drawing.
Oh, and I take a lot of pictures, but there are lots on my blog that were taken by my Mom. Here at the bottom is Dad showing you how huge this pipe is.

And stayed in tiny cabins. We rented two. And had a fun time visiting different parts of the lake, fishing, ( I caught two perch, though I'd rather liked to have caught trout,) adventuring, playing ladder ball, and Air hockey. The only sad thing is that we didn't visit any of the mills. There are tons of cool old mills, some refurbished to look like they had one when they were new, and many that are left to rot. I feel sorry for the ones people have just let go, I like to imagine the little villages of Irish people, picturing were they were, and what they did. We once  hiked to see  an old hospital by a river that had burnt down.

More camping

I know i am smiling in this pic, but I caught so many fish and I forgot to bring the fishing knife. I cleaned out around 15 bluegills with a pocket knife. It took a long time. I regretted not releasing any.
Look at those big Carp! Said Ducky. I was trying to catch them for a wile, and then when i almost caught one I chickened out and pulled my lure out of it's mouth. They don't usually take lures. Carp are BIG, not pretty fish that normally feed on the bottom of the lake. They can get up to 100 pounds as far as I know. I was worried I'd get drug in the water.
Swinging like Tarzan!

Swimming in a shallow river is the best way to cool off.

This summer...

Lots and lots of camping trips, swims, floats, mini vacations and adventures.

Dad is whittling with jessa and keeping our lunch cool.

Telling stories and listening to all the things that go bump in the night.

Ocean picknic

A couple weeks ago most of my family and I went to the beach. We all had a wonderful time collecting pretty rocks, wave jumping, swimming and building sand castles. I showed some of my cousins how to look for moonstones and shark teeth. we found many moonstones, but only one shark tooth, and we later lost it . Brother J. and some other cousins went out to the deeper parts, riding/jumping waves. I joined them after moonstone hunting. It was both fun and scary. We might get to go again with the rest of my family comes to CA. But when we got home we found that three of our ducklings died because we did not feed them little rocks to help crush their food in their bellies. Cousin H is very sad. We have one left.
